Montes in circuitu ejus, et Dominus in circuitu populi sui.
“In a culture whose fundamental premise is that Paradise is permanently lost,
"As the mountains are around it, so the Lord is around his people."
Psalm 125:2
the most subversive, dangerous, and revolutionary of all principles lies in the simple statement,
'I have everything I need.’"
-- Don Berry
“Perfection is reached, not when there is no longer anything to add, but
when there is no longer anything to take away.”

I did not tag myself with the title of arcana maven. Long ago, in a universe far, far, away, before the Internet, and before there were online conferencing systems, there was a conferencing system called Vaxnotes, running, oddly enough on a Vax, installed at Texaco’s Bellaire Research Laboratory where I was employed. Users on that system had personal names, and mine became Arcanamaven after someone else tagged me with that label. See: What I Used to Do
I’m not sure it fits any longer, if it ever did, because the older I get, the less I find that I know. But, I registered the domain name, so that I wouldn’t ever have to change my email address, and here it is, lo these many years later.
Homage: I acknowledge the work of Philip H. Greenspun. To the extent that this site and those associated with it don't suck, Philip and his work with his collaborators is a primary reason. I think that the philosphy of presenting information in a simple but structured manner, without the use of frames or Javascripts, is not merely useful, but elegant, and wish others would do the same. I highly recommend to the interested reader Philip and Alex's Guide to Web Publishing.. However, Philip and friends are in no way responsible for the deficiencies of this site, all of which are mine alone.
